The US dollar to naira exchange rate remains a key concern for Nigerians buying foreign currency, paying for imports, making international transfers and planning overseas expenses.
An indicative currency-rate feed quoted the dollar at ₦1,331.45 on Thursday, October 22, 2026. However, the latest official figures available for this report show that the Central Bank of Nigeria’s (CBN) published rates and the parallel-market quotations may differ.
According to exchange-rate data published for Wednesday, October 21, the dollar’s Nigerian Foreign Exchange Market (NFEM) closing rate was ₦1,337 per dollar. The CBN’s central reference rate for the same date was approximately ₦1,334.22. These are different measures of the official market and should not be treated as interchangeable. <Cite refs={[“turn923446search2″,”turn923446search4”]}/>
In the parallel market, published observations from Wednesday, October 21, put the dollar buying rate at approximately ₦1,365 and the selling rate at ₦1,375. These are reported dealer quotations, not a uniform nationwide rate, and fresh quotations for Thursday were not independently confirmed at the time of writing. <Cite refs={[“turn923446search3”]}/>
The actual amount customers receive or pay may vary depending on the dealer, location, transaction size and applicable charges.
Using the indicative rate of ₦1,331.45 per dollar, the naira equivalents are:
- $100: ₦133,145
- $500: ₦665,725
- $1,000: ₦1,331,450
These figures are mathematical estimates based on the indicative rate, not guaranteed cash-exchange offers.
Anyone planning to buy or sell dollars should confirm the applicable rate with their bank or licensed Bureau de Change operator before completing a transaction. For official reference figures, the CBN publishes exchange-rate data through its exchange-rate portal.
