England captain Harry Kane has reportedly won the 2026 Ballon d’Or, beating Real Madrid forward Kylian Mbappéand Barcelona youngster Lamine Yamal to claim one of football’s most prestigious individual honours.
The Bayern Munich striker is also reported to have received the Gerd Müller Trophy at the ceremony in London on Monday night, giving him two major individual awards during the event.
The Gerd Müller Trophy recognises outstanding goalscoring achievements over the award period. Introduced by France Football in 2021 as part of its annual individual awards, it honours players for their goalscoring performances.
According to the report, Kane became the first player to win both the Ballon d’Or and the Gerd Müller Trophy in the same year, marking a significant milestone in his career.
The 33-year-old is credited with scoring 73 goals and providing eight assists in all competitions for club and country during the 2025–26 season.
His reported success also follows a trophy-winning campaign with Bayern Munich, during which he claimed the Bundesliga, German Cup and German Super Cup titles.
Kane’s reported triumph places him ahead of a field that included Mbappé, one of Real Madrid’s leading attacking players, and Yamal, Barcelona’s highly rated young forward.
However, the official Ballon d’Or result, the final rankings and the precise name of the accompanying goalscoring award should be checked against the organisers’ announcement before publication.
