NDC Chieftain Buba Galadima Alleges APC Offering ₦200m, Cars to Opposition Candidates Ahead of 2027

Niger Democratic Congress (NDC) chieftain, Buba Galadima, has alleged that the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) is offering financial incentives and vehicles to opposition candidates in an attempt to secure uncontested victories ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Galadima made the allegation while speaking on Arise Television’s Prime Time programme on Tuesday night, October 7.

According to him, opposition politicians at the state and federal levels are allegedly being offered between ₦50 million and ₦200 million to withdraw from electoral contests and surrender their tickets to APC candidates.

He claimed that candidates seeking seats in state Houses of Assembly were allegedly being offered ₦50 million, while those contesting for seats in the House of Representatives were allegedly promised ₦200 million alongside a vehicle.

Galadima further alleged that the operation was being coordinated from Abuja, claiming that a woman from Zamfara State was distributing the alleged payments to opposition politicians at a hotel in the Federal Capital Territory.

He said the alleged move was aimed at reducing competition for the APC ahead of the 2027 elections, accusing President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and APC governors of seeking victories without facing strong opposition candidates at the polls.

“Every member of the House of Assembly who agrees to forfeit his ticket for the APC candidate is currently being given N50 million, and members of the House of Representatives will be given N200 million with a car,” Galadima said.

He also alleged that the person handling the distribution of the funds had recently met with APC National Chairman, Professor Nentawe Yilwatda.

According to Galadima, some opposition candidates had allegedly submitted letters withdrawing from the electoral race after receiving the payments.

However, the allegations made during the television interview were presented by Galadima and were not independently substantiated in the information available.

The claims come as political parties and aspirants begin positioning themselves ahead of Nigeria’s 2027 general elections, with the APC, opposition parties and prospective candidates expected to intensify their mobilisation and campaign activities in the months ahead.
