The Nigeria Police Force has reported three separate operations in Lagos, Abuja and Edo State, leading to the rescue of three young girls in Badagry, the arrest of six suspected criminals in Abuja and the apprehension of an alleged gunrunner in Benin City.
In Lagos, police operatives rescued three girls suspected to be victims of human trafficking after intercepting a commercial motorcycle along Owode Apa Road in Badagry.
The Force Public Relations Officer, Ani Iniedu, disclosed the development in a statement shared on his X account on Friday.
According to Iniedu, officers on routine patrol stopped the motorcycle after noticing that it was conveying the three girls. Further questioning reportedly revealed that they were victims of human trafficking.
The girls were rescued and debriefed, while efforts are underway to identify and apprehend the suspected traffickers.
The case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Panti, Yaba, for further investigation.
In a separate operation in the Federal Capital Territory, police operatives, working alongside members of the Civilian Joint Task Force, arrested six suspects during a raid on a suspected criminal hideout in Kado Bimko, Abuja.
The suspects include Abubakar Safiyanu and five others. Police said the operation led to the recovery of 11 mobile phones suspected to have been stolen, a laptop, dangerous weapons and intoxicating substances.
Iniedu further disclosed that the principal suspect was linked to a robbery and murder case reported in June 2026. The matter is being investigated by the Criminal Investigation Department in Abuja.
Meanwhile, police operatives in Benin City, Edo State, have arrested a 52-year-old man identified as Kingsley Eghagheover suspected involvement in illegal arms dealings.
According to the police spokesperson, the arrest followed intelligence gathering and the interception of a phone conversation allegedly connected to gunrunning activities.
Eghaghe has been taken into custody for investigation, while police said efforts were ongoing to recover suspected firearms and ammunition.
The case is being handled by the Violent Crime Response Unit (VCRU) in Benin City.
The police have not announced charges against the suspects in the three separate cases, as investigations continue.
