Dangote Refinery has announced a free premium motor spirit (PMS) delivery scheme for customers in five states and the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, as it continues efforts to strengthen fuel distribution across Nigeria. The company disclosed the development in a notice posted on its official X account on Wednesday.
According to the refinery, the free delivery offer covers Lagos, Ogun, Rivers, Kaduna and Delta states, as well as Abuja. The company stated that petrol under the scheme will be supplied at N1,075 per litre.
The Lagos-based refinery explained that the initiative is available to customers who meet a minimum purchase requirement of 250,000 litres. The arrangement is expected to benefit major fuel marketers and large-volume buyers operating within the affected locations.
The latest move comes amid ongoing discussions among stakeholders in Nigeria’s downstream petroleum sector over cost-reflective petrol pricing and strategies aimed at improving product availability across the country.
Days earlier, Dangote Refinery held a meeting with stakeholders in the oil and gas industry to discuss fuel pricing. The engagement reportedly ended with commitments from participants to support further reductions in petrol prices where market realities permit.
The announcement also follows the refinery’s recent decision to reduce its gantry price to N1,075 per litre. The adjustment represented the fourth reduction in the refinery’s ex-depot petrol price within four weeks.
The impact of the successive price cuts is already being felt in the retail market. President of the Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN), Abubakar Maigandi, recently disclosed that petrol pump prices had dropped significantly in several parts of the country.
Maigandi said retail fuel prices have fallen by about N125 per litre over the past three weeks, with petrol currently selling for between N1,155 and N1,299 per litre depending on location. Industry observers believe Dangote Refinery’s latest free delivery initiative could further ease distribution costs and support additional reductions in pump prices nationwide.
