Popular Nigerian singer Timi Dakolo has responded to allegations made against him by disc jockey DJ Timmy, who recently accused the musician of failing to pay an alleged debt.
The controversy began after DJ Timmy publicly claimed that Dakolo owed him money and issued a deadline for the alleged payment to be made.
The disc jockey also threatened to reveal details about the singer’s private life and alleged sexual escapades to his wife if the money was not paid before the deadline.
In response, Dakolo, through his legal representatives, released an official statement on his Instagram page, dismissing the allegations as false, defamatory and malicious.
According to the statement, the claims relate to expenses allegedly incurred for venue arrangements, graphic design, domain registration, website fees, video editing, video deposits and consultation services.
Dakolo maintained that he does not owe DJ Timmy the amount being claimed and insisted that the allegations were entirely unfounded.
The singer further stated that the publication of the claims had caused reputational harm to both him and his family.
He also disclosed that legal proceedings have already been initiated against the disc jockey over the allegations and the threats made against him.
