Rivers Governor Fubara Endorses Tinubu, Backs Wike-Led Coalition Ahead Of 2027

Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara has publicly endorsed President Bola Tinubu for a second term in office, declaring that the prolonged political crisis in the state has come to an end.

Speaking during a political gathering on Tuesday, Fubara said it was time to move beyond conflict and focus on peace and development in Rivers State.

“The time of war is over, it is now time for peace,” the governor declared.

Fubara also threw his support behind the Rainbow Coalition, a political alliance associated with Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister Nyesom Wike and his allies, signalling a major political realignment ahead of the 2027 general elections.

In addition, the governor endorsed Kingsley Chinda for the 2027 Rivers State governorship election, further strengthening speculation that rival political camps in the state are working towards a united front.

The development marks a significant shift in Rivers politics following the long-running rift between Fubara and his predecessor, Nyesom Wike, whose political disagreement triggered a prolonged crisis involving the Rivers State House of Assembly and affected governance in the state.

The latest declaration is being widely interpreted as a reconciliation between both camps after months of political tension.

Fubara’s endorsement has generated mixed reactions across the political landscape. Supporters have described the move as a step towards restoring stability and promoting development in Rivers State, while critics have questioned the political implications of the alliance and described it as a strategic realignment ahead of the 2027 elections.

The governor’s remarks have since dominated political discussions, with many observers viewing the development as one of the most significant shifts in Rivers State politics since the fallout between Fubara and Wike.
