Daniel Siad, the French model recruiter known for introducing several young women to convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein over many years, has been found dead at his home near Paris.
French authorities confirmed that Siad’s body was discovered at his residence on Monday. A deputy public prosecutor at the Nanterre Judicial Court said an investigation has been opened to determine the exact cause and circumstances surrounding his death.
Siad had long acknowledged his close association with Epstein, admitting that he arranged meetings between the disgraced financier and numerous aspiring models over a period spanning more than a decade. He maintained that he believed Epstein was a legitimate figure in the fashion industry, claiming he thought he worked as a casting director for Victoria’s Secret as well as a prominent modelling agency.
Although Epstein was convicted in 2008 on sex-related charges, Siad said he continued interacting with him because Epstein insisted he had changed following the conviction.
In a previous interview with CNN, Siad said he had trusted Epstein and believed he was conducting legitimate business. He also claimed that none of the women he introduced to Epstein had initially reported any wrongdoing to him. However, two women later alleged that Siad introduced them to Epstein before they were allegedly sexually abused.
Investigative records and court documents linked to the Epstein case show Siad’s name appeared more than 2,000 times in files connected to the financier. The documents reportedly include email exchanges in which Siad forwarded photographs of young models to Epstein for consideration as assistants. In one reported response, Epstein dismissed one of the candidates as being “too old.”
Before his death, Siad was also facing legal proceedings in France over a rape allegation dating back to 1990. French authorities have not suggested that his death is connected to the pending criminal case or any other ongoing investigations.
The investigation into Siad’s death remains ongoing, and officials have not released further details.
