Content creator Baba Orobo and comedian Nasboi have become the centre of online discussions after a disagreement over transportation expenses and work arrangements spilled onto social media.
The controversy began after Baba Orobo shared a video alleging that Nasboi disrespected him when he requested transport fare for a job.
According to Baba Orobo, he has collaborated with Nasboi since 2022, frequently travelling to Lekki for content creation. He claimed Nasboi later invited him to perform at an AY Live event, where he was to earn ₦200,000.
However, Baba Orobo said he asked Nasboi to send transportation money because he often relies on ride-hailing services after experiencing difficulty getting commercial drivers to carry him.
He alleged that Nasboi responded by telling him he had “no value,” a remark he said was hurtful considering their years of working together.
“I’ve been working with Nasboi since 2022. I always go to Lekki to work with him. I use Uber because many commercial drivers refuse to carry me. He invited me to an AY show where I was going to be paid ₦200,000. I told my manager I didn’t have transport money, so he asked me to speak to Nasboi. I asked him to send me Uber fare, but he told me I had no value. We’ve been working together since 2022, but now I suddenly have no value?” Baba Orobo alleged.
Responding to the claims, Nasboi denied intentionally disrespecting Baba Orobo and defended his reputation, stating that he has spent years supporting colleagues and upcoming entertainers.
In a statement shared on social media, the skit maker said he had collaborated with Baba Orobo on about five occasions, ensuring he was paid for each project. He also claimed he was responsible for securing the ₦200,000 performance opportunity at the AY show.
Nasboi further alleged that Baba Orobo repeatedly requested additional assistance beyond their work arrangements, including hotel accommodation and financial support to purchase a car.
According to him, he viewed those requests as an unhealthy sense of entitlement rather than professional expectations.
The comedian added that everyone who works with his production team is paid for their services and revealed that he now leaves casting decisions and payments to his production manager to ensure transparency and professionalism.
The exchange has generated mixed reactions online, with social media users divided over the disagreement. While some sympathised with Baba Orobo’s request for transportation assistance, others backed Nasboi’s position, arguing that professional engagements should be handled according to agreed terms.
