Iran has warned that any military attack by the United States on its territory or strategic assets would provoke a large-scale response targeting infrastructure across the Middle East.
The warning was delivered by Ebrahim Zolfaghari, a spokesperson for Iran’s Khatam al-Anbiya Central Headquarters, according to Iran’s Fars News Agency.
Speaking on Iran’s military position, Zolfaghari said any attempt to destroy Iranian infrastructure would be met with an even stronger retaliation.
“Destroy infrastructure, we will destroy whatever infrastructure remains in the region,” he said, underscoring Tehran’s readiness to respond forcefully to any attack.
The military spokesman also reaffirmed Iran’s opposition to any American involvement in the Strait of Hormuz, describing the strategic waterway as a non-negotiable security issue for the country.
He stated that Iran would “under no circumstances” permit the United States, which he described as an external power, to interfere in the Strait of Hormuz, calling such interference an “unbreakable red line.”
Zolfaghari further warned that Iran’s response to any aggression would go beyond a proportional retaliation. According to him, Tehran is prepared to launch what he described as a “superior blow,” adding that any counterattack would be “more severe, wider and more destructive than ever.”
The latest remarks come amid heightened tensions between Iran and the United States over security and maritime activities in the Gulf region. The Strait of Hormuz remains one of the world’s most important shipping routes for global oil exports, making any threat to the waterway a major international concern.
Although Pakistan recently facilitated a memorandum of understanding aimed at easing hostilities and creating a pathway toward a broader peace agreement, reports indicate that military exchanges between Washington and Tehran have continued despite the diplomatic effort.
The renewed exchange of warnings highlights the fragile security situation in the region, with international observers closely monitoring developments due to their potential impact on global energy supplies and regional stability.
