Petrol prices have increased across several filling stations in Nigeria, with some outlets now selling Premium Motor Spirit, PMS, at between N1,310 and N1,320 per litre.
A market survey on Monday showed that MRS, Ranoil, Empire Energy and other filling stations adjusted their pump prices from previous rates ranging between N1,230 and N1,299 per litre.
The latest adjustments represent increases of between N20 and N80 per litre, depending on the filling station.
MRS recorded the largest increase, raising its pump price by N80 per litre. Ranoil increased its price by N45 per litre, while Empire Energy adjusted its price upward by N25 per litre.
The latest development comes shortly after Dangote Refinery increased its petrol gantry price by N65 per litre to N1,265 per litre.
The refinery has previously expressed concerns over the continued importation of petrol into Nigeria, blaming the situation on the issuance of import licences to marketers by the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority, NMDPRA.
Dangote Refinery, which currently accounts for a significant share of Nigeria’s petrol supply, had also threatened to stop selling its products to petrol importers and marketers.
The latest increase in pump prices is expected to add further pressure on motorists and households already dealing with elevated transportation and living costs.
