A man has raised concerns over security in Abuja after alleging that a group of men robbed him of his gold shortly after he left Millennium Park.
According to the man, he had visited the park for a church picnic and was returning to his vehicle when the alleged robbery occurred.
He said he briefly wound down his car window to allow hot air to escape before turning on the air conditioner. He alleged that several men then approached his vehicle, appearing to be asking him for money.
The situation allegedly changed within seconds, as the men reportedly grabbed his gold and fled.
The man said he immediately drove after the suspects while some other people also attempted to pursue them.
According to his account, one person who got close to the alleged robbers was stabbed, after which the suspects escaped into a nearby bush.
He said he continued pursuing them towards the area behind the Ministry of Justice, where he appealed to security personnel to assist in chasing the suspects.
The man alleged that the security personnel declined to intervene despite his offer to pay them to help pursue the suspects.
“I have just been robbed… I went to Millennium Park for a church picnic. Coming out of the park, I entered my car. I wound down so that I can turn on the AC so the bad air can come out before I wound up.”
He said the incident left him concerned about the security situation in the Federal Capital Territory.
“I’m not going to fault them. I’m just making this video to create awareness. Abuja is no longer safe.”
The man’s account is an allegation and has not been independently verified. It was also not immediately clear whether a formal complaint had been lodged with the police or whether any suspect had been arrested in connection with the alleged incident.

The claim has nevertheless raised fresh concerns online about street robbery and personal security in Abuja, particularly around busy public areas.
