Nigerian singer Adekunle Gold, popularly known as AG Baby, has opened up about his friendship with music star Davido, describing him as someone who genuinely stands by the people he loves.
Adekunle Gold made the remarks during an appearance on the One54 Africa Podcast, hosted by Akbar Gbajabiamila and Godfrey Danchimah.
Reflecting on Davido’s personality away from his career and public image, the singer said the Timeless hitmaker has consistently shown support for people within his circle.
“Davido will ride for anybody he loves,” Adekunle Gold said.
He further described Davido as a genuine person whose support for friends and associates extends beyond music.
“He’s a genuine person who consistently supports people within his circle. And his support goes beyond just music.”
Adekunle Gold also recalled how his friendship with Davido grew stronger after their collaboration on the 2021 hit song “High.”
According to the singer, he had already written the song when he decided Davido was the right artiste to feature on it.
He subsequently contacted Davido about the collaboration, which eventually led to the pair working together on the song and its video.
Adekunle Gold recalled that Davido travelled to Los Angeles for the video shoot and that they had a memorable time during the production.
“Davido flew to Los Angeles for the video shoot and we had a great time,” he recalled.
Their musical relationship has continued since then, with Davido later featuring on “Only God Can Save Me,” a track from Adekunle Gold’s Fuji album.
The singers have also supported each other outside the recording studio, including making surprise appearances at each other’s performances.
Adekunle Gold’s latest comments offer a glimpse into a friendship that has developed beyond music collaborations, with the singer portraying Davido as a person who places importance on loyalty and supporting those close to him.
