Police in New Jersey are searching for a man accused of repeatedly riding an electric bicycle naked along a local trail, following years of complaints from residents.
Authorities in Readington Township said they recently obtained a photograph that could help them identify the unidentified cyclist, who has reportedly been seen riding without clothing on the trail on several occasions.
The Readington Township Police Department said residents had previously reported seeing the unusual rider, but officers only recently received photographic evidence of the incidents.
The image released by police appears to show an older man riding an e-bike while wearing a helmet but no other clothing. Police said parts of the photograph were digitally obscured before it was made public.
The unusual case quickly attracted attention online, with one social media user claiming to have spotted the same cyclist about a year earlier.
Police are now appealing to members of the public for information that could help establish the man’s identity.
The department also used humour while reminding cyclists about safety, stressing that wearing a helmet is encouraged but adding that appropriate clothing is even more strongly recommended.
Anyone who recognises the cyclist or has information about the repeated incidents has been urged to contact the Readington Township Police Department.
