Nigerian TikTok streamer Habeeb “Peller” has responded to the controversy surrounding his claim that a man identified as “Mr Buchi” slept with another man’s wife, insisting that he was not referring to relationship commentator Solomon Buchi.
Peller made the clarification in a video shared online on September 5, after Buchi publicly accused him of making a false and damaging allegation about his marriage and said he had reported the matter to the Metropolitan Police in the United Kingdom.
According to Peller, the “Mr Buchi” he referred to during his earlier livestream was allegedly a fan with whom he had previously had an online exchange.
“I was referring to one of my fans, Mr Buchi, whom I had an online banter with, not Solomon Buchi. Is he the only Buchi in the world?”
The clarification comes after Peller’s original remarks triggered a public dispute because many social media users interpreted the reference to “Mr Buchi” as being directed at Solomon Buchi.
During the earlier livestream, Peller said he had heard a story about “Mr Buchi” and alleged that the person had slept with someone’s wife.
“Mr Buchi slept with someone’s wife. They told me his story. Someone told me his story. He’s not a better person.”
Peller did not identify the alleged source of the information or provide evidence supporting the claim during the livestream.
Solomon Buchi subsequently rejected the allegation, saying Peller had falsely accused him of cheating on his wife with another man’s wife.
Buchi said the controversy had seriously affected his wellbeing and claimed he suffered a nervous breakdown, which he said was documented by his general practitioner.
He also said he had reported the matter to the Metropolitan Police because Peller was in the UK at the time. The reported police complaint has been carried by several Nigerian publications based on Buchi’s own statement, but there has been no public confirmation from the Metropolitan Police establishing the complaint or indicating that an investigation has commenced.
Peller’s latest explanation therefore introduces a different account of the original exchange. He maintains that the person he meant was another individual named Buchi and not the well-known relationship commentator.
The clarification has generated further debate online, with some social media users questioning whether Peller can substantiate his explanation, while others argue that he did not expressly mention Solomon Buchi’s full name during the original livestream.
The controversy has also revived attention around the relationship between the two personalities.
Buchi had previously commented publicly on Peller’s relationship with fellow TikTok personality Jarvis, including advising the couple to take marriage seriously and consider counselling before their wedding.
Peller and Jarvis later got married and travelled to the UK, where the latest dispute unfolded.
For now, the central issue remains disputed. Peller says his reference was to another person named Buchi, while Solomon Buchi maintains that the statement falsely targeted him and his marriage.
Neither side has publicly produced evidence that independently establishes the identity of the “Mr Buchi” referenced in Peller’s original livestream.
