Thierry Henry has praised Lionel Messi’s passion and commitment to Argentina after the football icon was seen in tears following his side’s defeat to Spain in the 2026 FIFA World Cup final.
Argentina fell 1-0 to Spain on Sunday, ending their hopes of successfully defending the title they won in Qatar four years ago.
Messi, who captained the Albiceleste throughout the tournament, was visibly emotional as he collected his silver medal after the final whistle. Images of the 39-year-old struggling to hold back tears quickly went viral on social media.
Reacting on Fox Sports, Henry said Messi’s reaction showed just how much representing Argentina still means to him despite everything he has already achieved in football.
