Nigerian-British Musician Talay Riley Stabbed To Death In London At 35

The family of Nigerian-British musician Talay Riley has confirmed his death after the singer was fatally stabbed in East London.

Talay Riley, whose real name was Mark Yinka Orabiyi, was reportedly attacked on Pankhurst Avenue in the Silvertown area of East London on Friday morning.

According to reports, emergency services were called to the scene at about 9 a.m. but were unable to save the 35-year-old musician.

Following the incident, detectives from the Metropolitan Police’s Specialist Crime Command launched a murder investigation to determine the circumstances surrounding his death.

Confirming the tragedy in a statement, family members described his passing as a devastating loss.

“It is with overwhelming sadness that we confirm that Mark ‘Yinka’ Orabiyi, professionally known as Talay Riley, passed away yesterday morning,” the statement read.

The family remembered him as a gifted musician whose impact extended beyond music, noting that he would be remembered for his generosity, humour and vibrant personality.

They also thanked friends, colleagues and supporters for the outpouring of love and condolences received since news of his death emerged.

Career Spanning More Than A Decade

Talay Riley built a successful career as a singer, songwriter and composer over more than a decade in the music industry.

He first gained recognition after securing a publishing deal at the age of 18 before going on to work with some of the biggest names in global music.

Over the years, he collaborated and toured with artists including Skepta, Usher, Trey Songz, Kehlani, H.E.R. and Khalid.

His contributions earned him respect across both the UK and international music scenes.

Since the announcement of his death, tributes have continued to pour in from fellow musicians, friends and fans.

His younger brother, Scribz Riley, paid an emotional tribute on social media, describing Talay as more than a brother.

He said the late singer was a mentor, an inspiration and a source of light to many people.

British rapper Stormzy and singer Craig David were among those who publicly mourned his passing.
