Fresh developments have emerged in the ongoing investigation into the death of 20-year-old Favour Agbro, after activist Israel Joe released screenshots of what he claims are WhatsApp conversations between the late woman and content creator Odogwu Asaba.
The chats, which Joe shared on social media, were presented as exchanges that allegedly took place after the incident Favour had previously accused the content creator of. According to Joe, the messages have already been submitted to the Nigeria Police Force as part of the ongoing investigation.
In the screenshots released online, Odogwu Asaba allegedly dismissed Favour’s complaints, describing them as an attempt to blackmail him. He also allegedly stated that he would not provide her with financial assistance unless she “does the right thing.”
The latest disclosure comes days after a video recorded by Favour before her death went viral on social media. In the video, she alleged that Odogwu Asaba invited her to Asaba under the promise of helping her learn how to monetise her social media platforms.
She further alleged that after they arrived at a hotel, she was physically assaulted and raped. Favour claimed the incident left her emotionally devastated, and she later died by suicide.
Odogwu Asaba was subsequently arrested, and police have confirmed that investigations into the allegations are ongoing.
Explaining why he released only part of the conversation, Israel Joe said the complete chats would be reserved for investigators and could be used as evidence in court.
According to him, Favour was not demanding money as compensation but was seeking help after allegedly suffering injuries and bleeding following the incident.
Joe also claimed that in one of the voice notes sent to the content creator, Favour pleaded for assistance, saying she had no intention of destroying his reputation but needed treatment because she was feeling weak.
He maintained that the full conversation has been handed over to the police and urged the public to avoid drawing conclusions based only on the limited screenshots circulating online.
As of the time of filing this report, the allegations contained in the released chats have not been independently verified, and Odogwu Asaba has not publicly responded to the latest claims. The police investigation into the case remains ongoing.
