Fresh details have emerged about how the family of Favour Agbro, the 20-year-old woman whose death has sparked nationwide attention following an alleged sexual assault involving content creator Odogwu Asaaba, accumulated a ₦7 million debt.
Speaking in a video interview alongside the family’s legal representative, Barrister Awele Ideal, Favour’s twin sister, Faith Agbro, said the debt resulted from desperate efforts to save her sister’s life before she passed away.
According to Faith, the family borrowed money from several people to pay for emergency medical treatment as Favour’s condition worsened.
She explained that despite their efforts, Favour could not be saved, leaving the family with millions of naira in outstanding medical bills and creditors who are now demanding repayment.
Faith also spoke about discussions surrounding the possibility of an out-of-court settlement in the case.
According to her, Favour had, before her death, reportedly expressed sympathy for Odogwu Asaaba because of his twin daughters, suggesting she did not want them to suffer as a result of the situation.
She further disclosed that their father has also shown compassion towards the suspect, reportedly because of the advanced age of the content creator’s mother.
Barrister Awele Ideal, however, said the suspect has allegedly presented what he described as “lucrative” settlement offers to the bereaved family in a bid to resolve the matter outside the courtroom.
The lawyer said he advised the family not to accept any settlement, warning that doing so could undermine the ongoing legal proceedings.
