The Federal Government has arraigned three men before the Federal High Court in Abuja over the abduction of pupils and teachers from a school in Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State, filing a 10-count charge against them.
The defendants, identified as Abdulrazak Umar, also known as Abu Khalifa or Abu Khalid, Yunusa Musa, also known as Yunusa bin Musa, and Shamsu Adamu Sani, also known as Abu Itisar, appeared before the court on Friday.
According to the charges, the suspects are facing allegations bordering on terrorism, kidnapping, concealment, incitement and illegal mining.
The Federal Government alleged that the three defendants, all from Suleja Local Government Area of Niger State, conspired with Muhammad Sani, Jibril Mohammed and Ibrahim Khabab between January and May 2026 to carry out the abduction of the schoolchildren and teachers in Oyo State.
The prosecution further alleged that the offences were committed within the stated period and are contrary to relevant provisions of Nigerian law.
The case is expected to proceed before the Federal High Court, where the allegations against the defendants will be determined.
Under Nigerian law, the suspects are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty by the court.
