Dangote Refinery Raises Petrol Price Again to ₦1,200 Per Litre

The Dangote Petroleum Refinery has increased its petrol gantry price from ₦1,185 to ₦1,200 per litre, raising concerns that filling stations could increase pump prices across Nigeria.

The new price took effect on Wednesday, August 26, 2026, according to a notice issued by the refinery’s Group Commercial Operations to its customers.

The latest adjustment represents a ₦15 increase and comes only five days after the refinery raised its petrol gantry price from ₦1,165 to ₦1,185 per litre on August 21.

The refinery also increased its coastal price from ₦1,562,265 to ₦1,582,380 per metric tonne.

As part of the new pricing arrangement, customers were directed to return existing Authorisation to Collect documents for repricing before loading could resume.

“You are advised to return all ATCs for repricing, and a new volume contract will be issued for immediate loading resumption,” the refinery stated.

The latest increase could put additional pressure on petrol pump prices as marketers factor the higher refinery price into their costs, alongside transportation and other downstream expenses.

Petrol could trade at an average of around ₦1,250 per litre in some locations following the adjustment, although actual pump prices are expected to vary between marketers and locations.

The increase also comes despite the reported movement in international crude oil prices, with WTI quoted at $82.13 per barrel and Brent crude at $88.37 per barrel in the report.

The development comes amid renewed volatility in the global oil market, with concerns over potential supply disruptions linked to tensions involving the United States and Iran and possible disruption around the Strait of Hormuz.

The Dangote Group had not issued a public explanation for the latest adjustment at the time of the report.
