Al Nassr Break 87-Year-Old World Record After Scoring in 94th Straight League Game

Al Nassr have made football history after scoring in their 94th consecutive Saudi Pro League match, surpassing a record that had stood for almost nine decades.

The milestone was achieved during their 1-1 draw against Al Khaleej on Saturday, when substitute Abdullah Al-Hamdan produced a spectacular long-range strike to bring Al Nassr level.

Al Khaleej had taken an early lead, but Al-Hamdan’s second-half equaliser not only rescued a point for the Saudi Arabian giants but also secured their place in the record books.

The goal extended Al Nassr’s remarkable league scoring streak to 94 consecutive matches, moving them beyond the previous record of 93 matches held by Argentine giants River Plate.

River Plate established their record between September 1936 and June 1939, scoring in 93 consecutive top-flight league matches.

Al Nassr’s historic run began on December 8, 2023, when they defeated Al Riyadh 4-1.

Their previous Saudi Pro League match had ended in a 3-0 defeat to Al Hilal, which remains the last league fixture in which Al Nassr failed to score.

Since then, the club have found the net in every Saudi Pro League match, gradually closing in on River Plate’s long-standing mark before finally overtaking it against Al Khaleej.

The achievement adds another remarkable chapter to Al Nassr’s recent rise, with Cristiano Ronaldo and his teammates now holding a record that had remained untouched since the 1930s.

Although the club could only secure a draw on the day, Al-Hamdan’s strike ensured the result would be remembered as a historic moment in world football.
