Afrobeats star Davido has reacted to an old video of former Anambra State governor and Nigerian Democratic Congress (NDC) presidential candidate Peter Obi discussing his business background and wealth before entering politics.
The video, shared on X by journalist Rufai Oseni, showed Obi displaying what he identified as an American Express Platinum Card and a Centurion Card, popularly known as the Black Card.
In the footage, Obi spoke about the history and exclusivity of the cards while using them as part of his explanation of his financial position before he entered politics.
He said he had established a viable business before going into public service and claimed that although he did not regret his decision to enter politics, his involvement in politics had made him poorer.
Oseni shared the video while challenging Nigerian politicians to publicly explain how they accumulated their wealth.
“Can every Nigerian politician tell us how they made their money like this?”
Davido, who quoted Oseni’s post, responded with a brief comment suggesting that he did not believe many Nigerian politicians would be willing to publicly provide similar explanations.
“None of them can try it 😂😂”
The singer’s reaction has drawn attention online as discussions around politicians’ sources of wealth, financial transparency and accountability continue ahead of the 2027 general election.
Obi’s comments in the old video were made in the context of his business background and transition into politics. Davido’s response was directed at Oseni’s broader challenge to politicians and did not independently verify the claims made in the video.
