Elderly Ambulance Driver Reportedly Dies in Lagos Traffic While Transporting Patient

An elderly ambulance driver has reportedly died while transporting a patient through traffic in Ikoyi, Lagos State, with a video of the incident circulating on social media.

The incident was reportedly captured after the ambulance became stationary in traffic. Footage circulating online shows the vehicle parked on the road while people gathered around the driver’s side and appeared concerned about his condition.

A voice heard in the video appealed to members of the public who could identify the hospital or ambulance service involved to help contact the appropriate authorities and medical personnel.

The social media post accompanying the video claimed that the driver had stopped breathing while waiting in traffic.

“If you know this hospital Swift Med, you can help reach out. The driver parked waiting for traffic, that’s how he stopped breathing, this happened just now and he’s still there.”

The report has generated reactions about the difficulties faced by emergency medical transport services in Lagos, particularly when ambulances encounter heavy traffic while conveying patients.
