Nigerian singer Skales has recounted how fellow artiste Burna Boy allegedly asked Davido for permission to join his private jet for a trip to Yola, Adamawa State, ahead of a music performance.
Skales shared the experience while recalling a show where he and Burna Boy were scheduled to perform in the northern Nigerian city.
According to the singer, Burna Boy contacted Davido and asked if he could travel with him and his team. Davido reportedly agreed to the request.
However, the arrangement presented a challenge because the private jet was already full. Skales said Davido had to ask one of his team members to travel the following day to create additional space.
Describing the unusual experience aboard the aircraft, Skales said the passengers were so crowded that someone had to sit on the toilet seat during the journey.
He also claimed that Davido gave up his own seat for him, allowing him to travel with the group.
Recalling the conversation between the two artistes, Skales said:
“Burna called Davido and said, ‘Please, can I join their jet?’ Davido said, ‘Why not?’”
Skales further explained that he performed alongside Burna Boy after they arrived in Yola.
He also linked the experience to a later career opportunity, saying the trip eventually connected him to Major Lazer, the international electronic music group with whom he subsequently made music.
The story offers a glimpse into an earlier encounter involving three prominent Nigerian music stars and highlights how professional relationships and shared performance opportunities can lead to unexpected career connections.
“Burna Boy begged Davido to let us join him on his private jet when we were going to perform our song ‘Temper’ in Yola. The jet was so full that Davido had to ask one of his team member to leave, and someone even had to sit on the toilet sit because there was no space.”
