Toyin Abraham Rejects Lagos APC Campaign Council Role, Says She Is Staying Out of Politics

Nollywood actress Toyin Abraham has rejected her reported inclusion in the Lagos State All Progressives Congress (APC) Campaign Council, saying she is not a member of any campaign council and intends to stay out of politics.

Abraham made her position known in a post on Instagram on Thursday, September 17, after her name appeared on a list released by the Kadri Obafemi Hamzat Media Centre.

The published list placed Abraham among entertainers selected for the campaign council’s Entertainment and Creative Economy Directorate ahead of its scheduled inauguration.

Responding to the listing, the actress said she had previously made her position on political involvement known and asked the public to disregard her reported inclusion.

“I’m not a member of any campaign council. I have said it recently; I am staying out of politics. Please disregard the supposed inclusion of my name in any campaign committee.”

According to the campaign council list, Toke Benson-Awoyinka was named Director of the Entertainment and Creative Economy Directorate, while veteran actor Jide Kosoko was listed as Co-Director and actress Eniola Badmus as Deputy Director.

Other entertainers named in the directorate include veteran actors Adebayo Salami, Yinka Quadri, Saheed Balogun, Bukky Wright, Fathia Balogun and Bimbo Akintola.

Fuji musicians Wasiu Alabi Pasuma, Abass Akande Obesere, Adewale Ayuba, Saheed Osupa and Small Doctorwere also listed.

Abraham’s response establishes a distinction between her name appearing on the published campaign council list and her own position on the matter. While the list identifies her as part of the structure, she has publicly denied being a member and said she does not intend to participate in politics.

The Lagos APC campaign council was scheduled to be formally inaugurated on Friday, September 18, 2026, at the party’s secretariat on Acme Road, Ikeja.

The actress has therefore asked members of the public to disregard her reported inclusion, making it clear that she does not consider herself part of the campaign council.
