The wife, father and associates of late Nigerian gospel singer Toluwanisings have signed a peace undertaking with the Oyo State Police Command following disagreements over his burial arrangements.
The development comes days after reports emerged that the singer’s widow, Damilola Olayemi, had agreed with her father-in-law to have him buried at the family’s residence in Ibadan.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, the police command’s Public Relations Officer, Ayanlade Olayinka, said the Commissioner of Police, Abimbola Ayodeji Olugbenga, invited the parties after receiving reports of disagreements between the deceased’s family and associates.
According to the police, the dispute had generated tension and public exchanges on social media, prompting the intervention to prevent the situation from escalating.
Those involved subsequently agreed to refrain from actions capable of creating further tension over the circumstances surrounding the singer’s death.
The police said the parties also undertook to stop discussing the dispute through interviews and other communication channels.
Those who signed the undertaking include the singer’s widow, Damilola Olayemi; his father, Muniru Olayemi; his uncle, Lawal Ademola Rafiu; his personal assistant, Babadunni Gbolabo; and his associate, Oyindamola Esther.
Toluwanisings reportedly slumped and died at his residence on October 14, 2026.
His sudden death generated public attention, while disagreements involving members of his family and associates over his burial arrangements further fuelled discussions surrounding the circumstances of his passing.
The latest police intervention is aimed at preventing further confrontation among the parties and maintaining peace as arrangements for the late musician’s burial continue.
