The Plateau State Police Command has arrested a 22-year-old man, identified as Adam Mohammed, over the alleged rape of a 23-year-old woman in Bokkos Local Government Area of the state.
The suspect was arrested following a report that he allegedly attacked the woman and her grandmother while they were working on their farm.
Plateau State Commissioner of Police, CP Ayodeji Faniyan, disclosed the development on Friday, September 18, 2026, while parading suspects arrested for various offences at the command headquarters in Jos.
According to the police, the incident occurred on August 12, 2026, at about 7:00am in Mangor, Bokkos LGA.
Faniyan said Mohammed allegedly approached the two women while armed with a stick and attacked them before allegedly sexually assaulting the younger woman.
The commissioner said the police received a report about the incident and subsequently arrested the suspect.
The alleged victim was taken to a hospital for medical examination following the incident.
The police said Mohammed remains in custody as investigators continue to gather evidence and establish the circumstances surrounding the alleged offence.
CP Faniyan added that the case would be taken to court for prosecution after the completion of the investigation.
