Davido’s logistics manager, Israel DMW, has defended the singer amid his ongoing disagreement with social media critic VeryDarkMan, popularly known as VDM, denying allegations that the Afrobeats star was involved in any plan to have the activist arrested.
Israel made his position known in a statement shared on Instagram, where he addressed Nigerians and dismissed claims linking Davido to the controversies surrounding the late singer Mohbad, Naira Marley and VDM.
According to him, Davido had no involvement in Naira Marley’s difficulties during the controversy that followed Mohbad’s death and did not authorise any plan to secure VDM’s arrest.
He maintained that the individuals allegedly involved in the controversial WhatsApp group joined without Davido’s knowledge, instructions or approval.
“Dearest Nigerians, Oga had no hands in Naira Marley’s ordeals during his trying times in Mohbad’s case or in any plot to see VDM being arrested. Those who were in that WhatsApp group got there without his instructions or approval,” Israel wrote.
Israel also dismissed claims that Davido attempted to acquire Mohbad’s music catalogue or sign the late singer’s associate, Zinoleesky. He described the information allegedly passed to VDM about the singer as false.
He further claimed that Davido rejected pressure from people who wanted him to unfollow Naira Marley on Instagram during the controversy, choosing instead to allow the police to handle the matter.
“Naira and Oga are cool 100 per cent. They even made a hit song. Serious pressure came for Oga then to unfollow Naira on Instagram, but he categorically refused,” he added.
Addressing a separate reported incident at Naira Marley’s residence, Israel said the disagreement involved Tolu 30BG, who was then associated with Davido, and one of Naira Marley’s associates.
He denied claims that anyone was beaten or physically attacked during the encounter.
Israel’s statement comes after VDM publicly discussed the breakdown of his relationship with Davido, alleging that members of the singer’s circle were involved in a WhatsApp conversation about plans to have him arrested over his campaign for justice for Mohbad.
The activist had also questioned Davido’s response after he allegedly sought an explanation about the messages.
Israel’s intervention presents Davido’s side of the controversy through his associate, but his denials do not independently establish what was discussed in the alleged WhatsApp group or the identities and intentions of its participants.
Davido has not been quoted directly in Israel’s statement addressing the allegations.
