The governorship candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Oyo State, Chief Adegboyega Adegoke, has alleged that the state government removed one of his campaign billboards in Ibadan.
According to him, the billboard located at Idi-Ape Junction in Ibadan was removed and replaced with another banner carrying the images of Governor Seyi Makinde, the APM presidential candidate and the party’s governorship candidate in Oyo State, Bimbo Adekambi.
He alleged that the removed billboard featured his photograph alongside that of the ADC presidential candidate, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar.
Describing the development as illegal, Adegoke claimed the action was politically motivated and linked it to what he described as the growing popularity of Atiku and the ADC in the state.
“Such illegal act will not be tolerated and it cannot diminish the growing popularity of Oloye Adegoke and Alhaji Atiku Abubakar in Ibadan and the entire Oyo State,” he said.
“Is this how we want to continue to play politics in Oyo State, behaving as if we are in a banana republic?
“Gov Makinde should not be jittery. He should be ready to face the electorate. As far as Oloye Adegoke and Alhaji Atiku are concerned, they are sure of victory come 2027.”
As of the time of filing this report, the Oyo State Government had not responded to the allegations.
