Nigerian Lady Shares Why Colleague Called Off Engagement Over Fiancé’s Facebook Comment

A Nigerian woman, Iruoma Chikaodinaka, has narrated how a colleague reportedly ended her engagement after seeing a troubling comment made by her fiancé on Facebook.

Iruoma shared the account on her Facebook page, explaining that the incident occurred while she was reacting to a separate viral story in which a man allegedly cancelled his wedding over a social media comment linked to the trending “Ada Igbo” discussion.

Comment That Changed Everything

According to Iruoma, her colleague became deeply concerned after her fiancé publicly commented on a Facebook post in a way that appeared to justify or downplay cheating in marriage.

The man reportedly suggested that infidelity should not be a reason for ending a relationship, as long as the man “takes good care of his family,” a view that alarmed the woman and those close to her.

Family Intervention Seals Decision

Iruoma revealed that her colleague’s senior brother saw the comment, took a screenshot, and sent it to her, warning that the relationship was unlikely to work in the long run.

Faced with what she perceived as a serious red flag about her fiancé’s values and mindset, the woman decided to return the engagement ring and withdraw from the planned marriage.

Social Media and Relationship Boundaries

The story has since sparked conversations online about how social media opinions can reveal underlying beliefs that may affect long-term relationships, particularly on sensitive issues such as fidelity and marriage expectations.

While reactions remain divided, the incident highlights how a single public comment can have far-reaching personal consequences.
