A Nigerian lady has ended a relationship she was still exploring after an experience at the man’s home left her disappointed by what she described as a lack of care and consideration.
According to her account, she had asked the man what he wanted to eat while she was at work, and he requested Ofada rice with ayamase sauce.
After work, she reportedly went to the market to purchase the ingredients, including assorted meat, goat meat, beef and green peppers needed to prepare the meal.
Despite heavy rainfall that left her drenched, cold and shaking while travelling to his house, the woman said she still went ahead with the visit.
On arriving, she claimed the man simply asked:
“Ah ah, you still came in this heavy rain?”
The lady said she expected him to show concern by helping her dry off or offering her something warm to wear. When that did not happen, she asked him herself for a change of clothes.
According to her, the situation became more disappointing when the man asked when she would start cooking while she was still changing, explaining that he was hungry.
She eventually went into the kitchen and prepared the Ofada rice and ayamase sauce, spending more than an hour cooking while, according to her account, the man remained in the living room watching television and using his phone.
After preparing the meal, the lady said she packed the entire ayamase sauce into two large containers and left only the white rice behind.
“He can eat it with his phone and TV,” she stated.
She subsequently blocked the man across her social media platforms and ended the talking stage, saying the experience confirmed that she did not want to pursue a relationship with him.
“I already knew this man wasn’t for me. I didn’t need a prophet to tell me, and I definitely wasn’t going to waste months trying to convince myself otherwise.”
Her account has since generated discussion online, with reactions focusing on expectations around consideration, hospitality and effort during the early stages of a relationship.
