A Nigerian woman has publicly challenged social media commentator Isaac Fayose following his recent clarification about a viral video showing him singing and praying alongside Seyi Tinubu, the son of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
The backlash comes after Fayose explained that his relationship with Seyi Tinubu and the Tinubu family was based on personal friendship and did not mean he had withdrawn his political support for Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi.
Reacting in a video shared online, the woman dismissed Fayose’s explanation, describing it as an attempt at “damage control” after the video sparked widespread reactions on social media.
According to her, his public actions appeared to contradict his insistence that he remains fully committed to Peter Obi.
“All these videos you’re making now are damage control. There’s a saying, ‘A friend to all is a friend to none,’ and I believe that’s exactly what you’re practising,” she said.
She added that although she respects people who openly identify with their preferred political parties, she believes Fayose’s recent actions have left many Nigerians uncertain about where his true political loyalty lies.
Questioning his position further, she wondered how he could publicly associate with Seyi Tinubu, pray for President Tinubu’s administration and political success, while still maintaining that he is “100 per cent” behind Peter Obi.
“You’re dining with Seyi Tinubu and praying for God to strengthen President Tinubu’s government and fulfil his political ambitions. Yet you still say you’re 100% with Peter Obi. How exactly does that work?” she asked.
The exchange has continued to generate debate on social media, with users expressing differing opinions on whether personal friendships should be separated from political affiliations.
While some argued that individuals can maintain friendships across political divides without changing their convictions, others insisted that public actions often shape how political loyalties are perceived.
