Apple has unveiled its new iPhone 18 Pro, iPhone 18 Pro Max and iPhone Duo, giving Nigerians another set of premium iPhones to consider, but buyers in Nigeria may have to wait beyond the initial global launch dates before getting the devices officially.
The biggest announcement is the iPhone Duo, Apple’s first foldable iPhone and its most expensive iPhone yet. It starts at $1,999 for the 256GB model, while higher-storage versions go up to 2TB. Apple says the Duo will be available in Star White and Night Sky.
The device opens from a compact outer display into a 7.6-inch internal screen and is powered by Apple’s A20 Pro chip. It also features a titanium construction and a dual 48MP rear camera system.
The iPhone Duo will be available for pre-order from October 16, 2026, with sales beginning on October 23.
For Nigerians, however, there is no official Nigerian launch price yet. One Nigerian retailer is currently listing the 256GB iPhone 18 Pro at about ₦2.5 million and the Pro Max at about ₦2.9 million, although retail prices can change once actual stock arrives.
Apple’s official US starting prices are $1,199 for the iPhone 18 Pro and $1,299 for the iPhone 18 Pro Max, both starting with 256GB of storage.
Using an exchange rate of roughly ₦1,323 to $1, the US prices alone translate to approximately:
- iPhone 18 Pro: ₦1.59 million
- iPhone 18 Pro Max: ₦1.72 million
- iPhone Duo 256GB: ₦2.65 million
However, these conversions should not be treated as Nigerian retail prices. Importation, shipping, taxes and duties, retailer margins, availability and early-demand premiums can push the Nigerian prices considerably higher.
Indeed, one Nigerian retailer’s current estimate places the first iPhone Duo 256GB units at around ₦3.45 million to ₦3.65 million, although that is an estimated landing price rather than an official Apple Nigeria price.
When can Nigerians buy them?
The iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max will open for pre-orders on September 12, with availability beginning September 18 in Apple’s first-wave markets. Apple says the first wave covers more than 65 countries and regions, including the US, UK, UAE, India, China, Canada, Australia and several European and Asian markets. Nigeria is not included in that first-wave list.
Apple says the Pro models will then become available in another 20 countries and regions from September 25, but Nigeria is not identified in Apple’s announcement as one of those markets.
This means Nigerian buyers who want the new Pro models immediately will likely have to rely on local retailers importing units from launch markets, rather than waiting for a confirmed official Nigerian release date.
The situation is different for the foldable iPhone Duo, which will not go on sale until October. Apple has confirmed October 16 for pre-orders and October 23 for availability.
The iPhone 18 Pro models introduce a new 48MP Fusion Main camera with variable aperture, the A20 Pro chip, improved cooling and longer battery life. The Pro Max can deliver up to 45 hours of video playback, according to Apple.
For Nigerian buyers, the key issue will therefore be availability and local pricing rather than the US launch price alone. Early imported units are likely to command a premium before supply becomes more consistent.
As of September 10, Apple has not announced an official Nigerian retail price or confirmed a specific Nigerian release date for the iPhone 18 Pro, Pro Max or iPhone Duo. The Nigerian prices currently circulating should therefore be treated as retailer prices or estimates, not official Apple Nigeria pricing.
