Toluwanisings’ Family Suspends Burial Plans, Calls for Investigation Into Gospel Singer’s Death

The family of late Nigerian gospel singer Toluwanisings, born Olayemi Bayonile Bolaji, has suspended plans for his burial and called on the government, religious leaders, traditional rulers and members of the public to help investigate the circumstances surrounding his death.

The singer’s uncle made the appeal during an interview with Dunmininu, explaining that the family was struggling with the loss and wanted the circumstances surrounding his death to be properly established.

He urged influential individuals and institutions across the country to support the family in finding answers, stressing that their appeal was driven by the pain of losing their relative.

“We need the help of Nigeria because Sodiq’s death is hurting us. We need the help of important people, from the government down to religious leaders and traditionalists, to help us find out the true cause of his death. Please help us, we, the family of Olayeni,” he said.

The uncle also addressed questions about whether the family had taken steps to investigate the death, insisting that they were actively seeking assistance and wanted the public to support their efforts.

“Nobody should question if we have sent anyone to investigate. Yes, we are calling on everyone to help investigate because his death is painful to us,” he added.

As part of the family’s response, the uncle disclosed that relatives had collectively agreed to put the burial arrangements on hold until the circumstances surrounding the singer’s death were investigated.

“For this reason, nobody should plan to bury Sodiq because we are all very hurt, and the entire family has agreed to put his burial on hold,” he said.

The family’s appeal comes amid its efforts to establish what happened to the gospel singer. However, the uncle did not provide specific details of the circumstances surrounding the death or identify any person or institution accused of wrongdoing.

The family is seeking assistance from relevant authorities and community leaders as it pursues answers before proceeding with the burial.
