Premier League Champions Arsenal Eye Vinicius Jr As Contract Talks Stall At Real Madrid

Fresh from ending their 22-year wait for the Premier League title, Arsenal are reportedly exploring the possibility of signing Real Madrid forward Vinicius Jr as they look to further strengthen their squad ahead of the new season.

The Gunners have already added Christos Tzolis from Club Brugge, but reports suggest the club is also considering a far more ambitious move for the Brazil international should he fail to agree a new contract with the Spanish giants.

According to The Athletic, there have been no direct negotiations between Arsenal and Real Madrid over the 25-year-old. However, the report claims that the idea of pursuing Vinicius has been approved internally at Arsenal if the opportunity becomes available.

Vinicius currently has 12 months remaining on his contract at the Santiago Bernabéu, with talks over a new deal yet to reach an agreement.

Since arriving from Flamengo in 2018, the Brazilian winger has developed into one of world football’s standout attackers. He has made 375 appearances for Real Madrid, scoring 128 goals and providing 100 assists across all competitions.

He also enjoyed an impressive 2026 FIFA World Cup, where he scored four goals for Brazil.

Vinicius is one of several attacking players Arsenal are reportedly monitoring this summer. Atlético Madrid striker Julián Álvarez remains a long-term target, although reports indicate the Spanish club are reluctant to sell the Argentine forward. It is understood, however, that Atlético would be more willing to negotiate with Arsenal than with Barcelona, following the Catalan club’s public interest in the player.

The north London club are also said to be keeping tabs on Bournemouth forward Junior Kroupi as they evaluate options to strengthen their attacking department.

In midfield, Arsenal continue to be linked with Newcastle United captain Bruno Guimarães. Reports claim the Premier League champions are preparing a £70 million bid for the Brazilian midfielder, although Newcastle are understood to have no intention of selling one of their key players during the current transfer window.
