American music executive and rapper Sean “Diddy” Combs reportedly paid between $7 million and $8 million in legal fees while defending himself in a high-profile federal criminal case that lasted nearly two years.
According to reports citing sources familiar with the matter, the legal expenses covered a team of prominent trial and appellate lawyers, including Marc Agnifilo, Teny Geragos, Brian Steel and Nicole Westmoreland. The attorneys represented Combs from the time of his arrest in New York in September 2024.
Federal prosecutors had charged the music mogul with racketeering conspiracy, sex trafficking and transportation to engage in prostitution following an extensive investigation.
The case proceeded to trial in 2025 and lasted for eight weeks. At the conclusion of the proceedings, the jury cleared Combs of the racketeering conspiracy and sex trafficking charges. However, he was convicted on two counts of violating the Mann Act, a federal law that prohibits transporting individuals across state lines for the purpose of prostitution.
In October 2025, a federal judge sentenced the Bad Boy Records founder to 50 months in prison. He is currently serving the sentence at the Federal Correctional Institution (FCI) in Fort Dix, New Jersey.
Meanwhile, recent reports claim Combs was temporarily placed in solitary confinement after an alleged confrontation with another inmate inside the correctional facility. Sources said the disagreement reportedly became physical before prison officers stepped in to restore order.
As of the time of reporting, neither officials of the Federal Bureau of Prisons nor Combs’ legal representatives have publicly responded to the reports about the alleged prison incident.
